MUMBAI: A coordination committee of the opposition INDIA bloc is set to be announced at the alliance’s meeting that will be held in Mumbai on August 31 and September 1, said Shiv Sena (UBT) members. The committee is likely to have prominent members from across the parties which are part of the alliance, and it will plan details for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
NCP chief Sharad Pawar and Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray will hold a press conference on Wednesday to give more details about the meeting. Sena (UBT) on Monday launched a teaser about the meeting on social media.
UBT Sena members said several smaller parties who are part of the Pragatik Vikas Manch have been invited to back the INDIA alliance. Swabhimani Shektari Paksha, Peasants and Workers Party, Swarajya Party, CPI, CPI(M), Lal Nishan Party, Bahujan Vikas Aghadi (BVA), Samajwadi Party, Janata Dal, Satyashodhak Communist Party, and Bahujan Republican Socialist Party are part of this 13-party forum. Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut said a logo of the INDIA alliance will also be released.
MVA has geared up for the meeting, with work divided and tasks cut out between Congress, Sena (UBT) and Sharad Pawar’s NCP faction.
