Jewellers say minimalistic and everyday jewellery is stealing the spotlight this Dhanteras as prices of gold remain high compared to last Dhanteras. Price of gold is up by Rs 9,000 per 10 gm compared to the last Dhanteras and is hovering around Rs 60,400 per 10 gm.
Ajoy Chawla, CEO, Tanishq said “Over the past three weeks of this festive season, we’ve observed a significant upswing in customer sentiment. Notably, our new collections, including Dharohar, a showcase of Indian craftsmanship, Rivaah X Tarun Tahiliani‘s exquisite bridal jewellery, String It, our chic lightweight neckwear, and more, have been receiving remarkable traction across all categories. These offerings are designed to delight every customer during Diwali.
The recent cooling of gold prices, coupled with the upcoming Dhanteras festivities on Friday and Saturday, serve as additional positive factors that instil confidence in us. We are optimistic about achieving new highs in our sales and performance this festive season, added Chawla.
Amit Pratihari, VP, of De Beers Forevermark, said “We have kick-started this year’s festive season on a strong sales volume, with a substantial surge in Dhanteras shopping currently taking place across all our retail outlets in the country. Minimalistic and simple everyday wear jewellery is stealing the spotlight this Dhanteras, reflecting a desire for both style and practicality. We are seeing a lot of walk-in customers particularly, Gen Z’s and self-purchasers on this auspicious day. All our partner retailers are also doing robust sales, boosting our confidence for a successful season. We expect a solid double-digit growth this year with the overall market buoyant across the country.”
