Aircraft leasing in India picks up: Modair inducts fifth plane | India News – Times of India



NEW DELHI: Ahmedabad GIFT City-based leasing firm ModAir Aviation has inducted its fifth aircraft — a two-seater training plane Tecnam P-Mentor which will be based an an upcoming flying school in Karnataka. Before the end of this fiscal, Modair says it will induct its sixth aircraft that will be leased a non-scheduled Indian airline operators.
ModAir Aviation director Atul Jain said: “We are excited to welcome the fifth aircraft under our Company.We take pride in supporting PM Modi’s vision. Very soon we would be inducting our sixth aircraft. The company’s current concentration is on flight Training and non-scheduled aircraft category operations for the Indian market by importing, finance and leasing of aircraft.”
Modair CEO Ashish Jaiswal said: “With this fifth aircraft, the landscape of aircraft induction through India-based Aircraft Leasing infrastructure is taking shape. We extend our sincere thanks to the Government of India, IFSC Authority & the GIFT City for providing the required platform to enable seamless and easy aircraft induction in the Country.
Since India is the fastest growing aviation market and Indian carriers led by Tata Group Air India and IndiGo have over 1,700 planes on order, the Modi government is keen to have robust aircraft leasing industry in the country. As os now most airlines lease planes through companies in foreign countries like Ireland. Now Air India and IndiGo have set up companies in GIFT City for the purpose.
“ModAir Aviation is poised to support Prime Minister Modi’s vision for enabling and building the IFSC infrastructure for importing and leasing aircraft for FTO, non-scheduled and scheduled airlines. The GIFT City & IFSC infrastructure is proving to be extremely beneficial to the ever-expanding Indian Aviation Sector,” Modair said in a statement.
