Lucknow: During the intervening night of Thursday and Friday, the Special Task Force (STF) of the UP Police confronted the listed gangster Vinod Upadhyay in Sultanpur.
Acting on a tip-off regarding his movement in Sultanpur, the STF launched an operation and successfully intercepted the target. Officials said that in the ensuing exchange of fire, one person suffered gunshot wounds and identified himself as Vinod Upadhyay.
Police said Vinod, who was rushed to a hospital after sustaining gunshot injuries, later died.
Vinod Upadhyay was facing a total of 35 criminal cases, including heinous crimes such as murders, dacoity, robbery, and violations under the Gangsters Act.
A cash reward of Rs 1 lakh was announced for any lead resulting in his arrest.
