NEW DELHI: Bollywood actor Govinda on Thursday joined Shiv Sena in presence of Maharashtra chief minister Eknath Shinde.
He after joining Shiv Sena said that it is an amazing coincidence that he has returned to politics after 14 years. He further said that he will fulfill whatever responsibilities that will be given to him.
“I was in politics from 2004 to 2009 and that was the 14th Lok Sabha.This is an amazing coincidence that now, after 14 years, today I have come into politics again,” said Govinda.
Rajya Sabha MP Milind Deora, on Govinda’s return to politics said that he has known the actor for almost 25 years and he has a good heart.
“I have known Govinda for almost 25 years. In 2004, we both fought elections together. My late father had brought him to Congress. He is a man with a clean heart, and he wants to represent the creative industry and the cultural capital of the country, Mumbai,” said Deora.
The veteran actor contested the 2004 general elections from Mumbai on Congress’ ticket and defeated BJP‘s Ram Naik by a margin of 50,000 votes. However, he later resigned before completing his term to focus on his acting career.
