I was relaxing in my seat at the rear of the aircraft, listening to a song on the headphone, when I felt a sudden jolt. Instinctively, I turned left and looked out and spotted a red-coloured tip of the plane’s wing fall off! I looked in horror and realised the IndiGo plane that had just passed by had sliced off a portion of the Air India Express plane in which I was seated!
I alerted the air hostess who had also seen the damage before rushing to call the pilot on the intercom.Initially, flyers inside the plane panicked with some wanting to get off the plane immediately. The crew were trying their best to keep passengers calm and told us that the pilot was assessing the situation.
While we waited, the plane’s engines were shut down and the AC was switched off. We had to wait for almost half an hour. It was getting suffocating when it was finally announced that we could alight, board coaches and return to the terminal building. Before we got off the plane, the flight captain announced that he had never experienced something this bizarre in his 15-year-long career.
After returning to the terminal, the ground staff offered us three options: availing a late-night Air India Express flight on Wednesday, flying to Chennai on a flight operated by another airlines or flying at the same time on Thursday. I opted for the third choice and did a web check-in on the flight.
