Portion of roof collapses in Chennai’s Sekhmet pub, 3 killed | Chennai News – Times of India



CHENNAI: Three migrant workers were killed after a portion of the roof on the first floor of the Sekhmet pub, in the up-market area at Alwarpet, collapsed on Thursday evening. One more victim was rescued and was rushed to the government Royapettah Hospital for treatment. He was declared dead by the doctors after examining him.
The reason for the accident is yet to be ascertained.The deceased were identified as Cyclone Raj, 45, of Dindigul, two migrant workers were identified as Max and Lolly, natives of Manipur. Fire and rescue personnel from the Raja Annamalai Puram have rushed to the spot.
A team of commando force personnel from the Marutham complex, and a team of National Disaster Rescue Force (NDRF) personnel from their Adyar office were also engaged in the rescue mission.
A police team led by the east Chennai joint commissioner of police G Dharmarajan also monitored the incident.
On information, three β€˜108’ ambulances were kept ready in front of the Sekhmet pub, soon after the teams rescued the victim, he was rushed to the hospital.
Meanwhile, there were rumours that the roof collapse was due to the Boat Club Metro Station work, which is coming up less than 50 feet away from the Sekhmet pub.
However, the metro rail officials claimed that the metro station construction work is underway at the Boat Club Metro Station. β€œThe tunnelling work has started from Light House and the tunnelling has completed less than 500 metres, while the tunnelling work from Panagal Park towards Kodambakkam has also started.”
