Israeli army says Lebanon strike kills Hezbollah’s rocket unit commander – Times of India



NEW DELHI: The Israeli military on Friday said that it carried out air strike in Bazouriye, killing Ali Abed Akhsan Naim, Hezbollah‘s deputy commander of the rocket and missiles unit.
Naim was a key figure in launching heavy-warhead rockets and orchestrating attacks on Israeli civilians, according to the military.
Earlier, Hezbollah launched rockets with heavy warheads at northern Israeli towns, targeting civilians in retaliation for Israeli airstrikes.The group recently used Russian anti-tank Kornet missiles and Burkan rockets.
According to leader Hassan Nasrallah, Burkan rockets can carry warheads weighing 300-500 kilogrammes.
The attack, a first by the group on civilian areas, followed Israeli strikes that killed nine, including paramedics, as claimed by Hezbollah.
Hezbollah, a Palestinian ally, has been in conflict with Israeli army since Hamas launched an attack on southern Israel on October 7.
Cross-border clashes in Lebanon since October have claimed 347 lives, mostly Hezbollah fighter, as per an AFP report.
