Watch: Why are some Mumbai Indians players wearing ‘Superman jumpsuits’ while travelling? | Cricket News – Times of India

Mumbai Indians haven’t yet gotten off the blocks in IPL 2024, having lost their all three matches so far, and the team management is doing everything possible to keep the squad’s spirits up going ahead in the tournament. And as one of the innovative ways to do so, the franchise has brought back its ‘Punishment Jumpsuits’.
“Punishment outfit is back,” read the caption alongside a video posted by MI on social media, where Ishan Kishan, Shams Mulani, Kumar Kartikeya and Nuwan Thushara were seen wearing ‘Superman-themed; jumpsuits at the airport.

The suit comes with an MI logo and a cape that is blue in colour, which is the colour of Mumbai Indians’ jersey as well.

As the social media caption suggests, the dress has to be worn as a punishment for players who arrive late for practice sessions, team meetings, team bus, etc.
It’s re-introduction of a practice that the MI management has used in the past to enforce discipline among the players.

Mumbai are led by their new captain, Hardik Pandya, this season. Hardik was traded-in before the season from Gujarat Titans, where he was the captain for two editions, including a title win in 2022. He has replaced Rohit Sharma as MI skipper.
The decision on MI captaincy continues to face a lot of backlash from the MI fans.
MI will next play Delhi Capitals in Mumbai on April 7.
