‘He missed 100 runs…’: Virender Sehwag’s big remark on Rohit Sharma | Cricket News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Five-time IPL winners Mumbai Indians bounced back from their opening three losses to beat Delhi Capitals by 29 runs to register their first victory in the IPL 2024 on Sunday.
Former MI skipper Rohit Sharma found his rhythm back as he went hammer and tongs right from the beginning to set the ball rolling for his team. Rohit walked back after a 27-ball 49, which featured six fours and three sixes.

During his whirlwind knock, Rohit completed 1000 runs against Delhi becoming only the second batter after RCB star Virat Kohli to get to the milestone against DC.

Praising his innings that laid the foundation for MI’s success, former India opener Virender Sehwag made a significant remark about Rohit, expressing that he fell short of a potential score of 150.

“He missed 100 runs I would say. He got out in the next over of the powerplay…he didn’t bat for 14 overs. Rohit would have scored 100 more runs if he batted for the last 14 overs. He was stuck when he couldn’t take a single. For the first time, it looked like he was looking for a single and he got out,” Sehwag said while speaking to Cricbuzz.
Talking about the match, Romario Shepherd smashed 32 runs off the 20th over for Mumbai Indians to set up their first victory of this IPL season.
The West Indies big-hitter crashed a 10-ball 39 in an unbeaten stand of 53 off 13 deliveries with Tim David, who struck 45, to steer Mumbai to 234-5 at their home Wankhede Stadium.
Delhi finished on 205-8 despite Tristan Stubbs’ unbeaten 25-ball 71.
