Two Indians lost their lives in UAE’s Sharjah fire incident – Times of India



NEW DELHI: At least two Indians have lost their lives in a tragic Sharjah fire incident, Khaleej Times reported citing family friends, and social workers.
The fire broke out at a high-rise residential building in Al Nahda on Thursday night leading to the death of 5 people and 44 injured, the police said on Friday adding that the deaths could be caused by suffocation.Out of 44 injured, 17 are currently in hospital while 27 were discharged soon after receiving treatment, the Sharjah Police added.
One of the Indians is Michael Sathyadass, who worked as a sound engineer in DXB Live at Dubai World Trade Center (DWTC), scummed to injuries.
Danny Sathyadass, Michael’s brother, wrote a heartfelt note in which he said that Michael chose to be backstage and behind the scenes, literally and figuratively, to ensure that others shine and sound better. Danny also said that Michael had contributed to the concerts of renowned artists such as Bruno Mars and AR Rahman throughout his career.
In an email sent out to its employees in which the DWTC wrote that Michael was known for his “exceptional dedication and loyalty” and has “left a lasting impact”. “Michael became a part of the Dubai World Trade Center family on November 1, 2022,” read the email written by the company’s HR, reported Khaleej Times.
“Since then, his significant contributions have played a vital role in the growth and success of his division and the organization at large.”
Another victim was a 29-year-old woman from Mumbai who was recently married in February in Madinah, had lost her life in this tragic incident. Her husband is also battling for his life in hospital and confirmed the death of his wife.
While talking with Khaleej Times, he said that the doctors have told him that his health condition is very critical. “On Saturday night, we were told that the next 24 hours were going to be very important. By Sunday afternoon, they said that he had not shown any improvement. We are all praying for him,” he added.
