NEW DELHI: The BJP on Thursday went all out to attack RJD leader Misa Bharti, daughter of former Bihar CM Lalu Prasad Yadav, over her remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “If people of this country give INDIA bloc a chance (to form the government), then PM Modi and other BJP leaders will be behind bars,” the RJD leader had said last Sunday.
“We are talking about providing jobs to the youth, we are talking about doubling farmers’ income and implementing MSP and he (PM Modi) sees appeasement in that.Who will answer questions on electoral bonds? Whenever he comes to Bihar he levels allegations of corruption at our family … Do you know the magnitude of corruption (in electoral bonds) … If the people of this country give INDIA bloc a chance to form the government, PM Modi and many BJP leaders will be in jail,” Misa had said when asked about PM Modi’s attacks over corruption agaisnt opposition bloc INDIA.
When asked about Misa Bharti’s remark, her brother and former Bihar deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav evaded a direct reply and, said “Talk about issues, there’s no point discussing who said what…when the PM comes to Bihar he should speak about what he’ll do for the state”.
The BJP counter attack was led by party chief J P Nadda who slammed Misa Bharti and said the disappointment and frustration of opposition was at its peak. “They (RJD) keep abusing PM Modi. Their disappointment and frustration are at peak. For 23 years, PM Modi has worked as the prime leader of the nation. For such a leader, Misa Bharti is saying that she will send him to jail after elections,” Nadda said.
“It is ironical that leaders like Lalu Prasad who is involved in fodder scam and is out on bail and Misa Bharti who is facing allegations of corruption are today abusing Prime Minister Modi,” the BJP president added.
BJP national general secretary Vinod Tawade said, “The level of opposition’s campaign has stooped so low that they are absuing PM Modi. RJD’s Misa ji, daughter of Lalu ji, has said that Modi ji will be put in jail. The country wants to hear if the corrupt will sent to jail or not. The opposition’s campaign is at a level where someone is talking about sending leaders to jail and someone is talking of death.”
BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla said, “With time, everything changes. Misa Bharti’s name was inspired by Maintenance of Internal Security Act. People affected by the ‘Emergency’ are now standing with Congress. It is now becoming clear whether they’re ‘Mohabbat ki Dukaan’ or ‘Dhamki ki Dukaan’.”
BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad attacked Misa Bharti and said, “What has happened to Misa Bharti? The woman who’s father (Lalu Yadav) has been convicted in the fodder scam. I warn her to not make such statements. Your family is immeresed in corruption and you need to stop daydreaming.”
BJP leader Shaina NC also reacted strongly to the RJD leader’s remarks and said, “Misa Bharti should know that this is not a competition. Only the corrupt go to jail and we will not win this competition as none of our leaders are corrupt. There has been no case, no allegation and for those who only sit on commentary, let the voters decide ‘kaun bhrasht hai aur kaun nahi.'”
