The posters have a barcode that encouraged people to ‘scan the code and see the scams done.’ Once scanned, the QR code will provide details of the alleged electoral bond scam, which the ruling DMK has used as a card to attack the Prime Minister and BJP.
However, those behind the poster campaign remain unknown yet.
The poster campaign comes a day after the Prime Minister held roadshows and public rallies for NDA candidates in Tamil Nadu. During a public rally in Vellore, the Prime Minister singled out the DMK over alleged corruption, saying the DMK had ‘first copyright’ and added that the ‘family’ was intent on looting the state, in a veiled reference to the party’s first family led by the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, MK Stalin.
“Today, the country is setting a world record in 5G communication, but the DMK brought disrepute with the 2G scam. Congress and DMK stand at the forefront to protect the corrupt. While I say remove corruption, they say protect the corrupt,” he said.
DMK leaders like A Raja and Kanimozhi were embroiled in the 2G spectrum allocation case but were later acquitted by a special court.
Meanwhile, the DMK has also likened the Prime Minister’s regular visits to migratory birds. Taking strong exception to PM Modi’s campaign in the state, CM Stalin wrote on X, “PM Modi himself hovers over Tamil Nadu during the poll season just like migratory birds come to the sanctuary during the season.”
The state will see all its 39 seats go to polls in a single phase on April 19.
