VIJAYAWADA: Chief minister and YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was attacked with stones at Ajit Singh Nagar in the city on Saturday night.
Jagan received injury on his forehead while Vijayawada-West legislator Vellampalli Srinivas, who was beside Jagan, was hurt in his left eye. Doctors treated them and Jagan later continued his bus yatra in the city.Someone in the crowd hurled stones at Jagan while some of his followers were busy welcoming him with a huge garland with the help of a crane.
The incident took place while Jagan was on his “Memantha Siddham” bus yatra as part of electioneering. He sustained an injury on his forehead just above the left eyebrow.
The situation turned tense as the attack seemed to be a targeted one. Immediate medical attention was provided to both chief minister and MLA inside the specially designed bus for electioneering. agan decided to continue with his bus journey after receiving first aid.
Local leaders of the YSR Congress expressed suspicion that opposition factions, particularly from Telugu Desam Party, may be behind the attack. However, no specific allegations have been confirmed, and the identity of the attackers remain unknown.

The police are investigating the matter to identify the culprits and to prevent such occurrences in the future.
