CHANDRAPUR: A person died and 80 other devotees allegedly suffered food poisoning after partaking ‘mahaprasad’ at a Kali Mata temple during navratri puja in Majri in Maharashtra’s Chandrapur on Saturday. Six are critical, police said.
Only those who consumed ‘boondi’ have food poisoning symptoms including diarrhea & vomiting, sources said.
The affected individuals, including 30 women and 24 children, were rushed to WCL hospital in Majri and from there to sub-district hospital in Warora.Six critical patients were shifted to Govt Medical College and Hospital in Chandrapur.
The deceased, identified as Gurufen Yadav, 80, had co-morbidities, said doctors. About 24 patients have been discharged, they said. Police are probing into the alleged food poisoning.
