HYDERABAD: Two Indian students pursuing their studies in New Jersey, USA, were arrested by the police in an alleged shoplifting case. One of the girls, aged 20, studied in Hyderabad before moving to the US for her further studies. The other is a 22-year-old from Guntur in Andhra Pradesh.
Both the Telugu girls were arrested after Hoboken ShopRite alerted the cops that the the girls did not pay for certain items that they had purchased.The Hoboken City Police Department who went to the shop explained to the girls that what they had done was a crime and that they would be produced in the court.
One of the girls tried to explain that they would pay double for not having paid for the items earlier. Another tried to tell the police that they would not do it again and that they should be allowed to go. However, the police explained the legal procedures to them and arrested them.
The incident took place on March 19.
