NEW DELHI: A vehicle carrying five foreign nationals was targeted in a suicide attack in Karachi‘s Landhi area on Friday. The police said the attack was targeting Japanese nationals in the vehicle.
According to police reports, the attack occurred in Mansehra Colony but resulted in no injuries to the foreigners. The passengers were promptly relocated to a safe, undisclosed location following the incident, a GEO TV report said.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Malir, Tariq Mastoi, confirmed the nature of the incident as a suicide attack.He noted that the bomber and one militant were killed in retaliatory fire that also caused damage to another vehicle nearby.
During the attack, gunfire was reported, adding to the chaos experienced in the vicinity. Emergency services were quickly on the scene, and the injured were transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. The nationalities of the victims have not been disclosed yet.
