Under attack, Karnataka asks CID to probe murder of MCA student | India News – Times of India

SHIVAMOGGA/HUBBALLI: Facing tough questions over handling of MCA student Neha Hiremath’s murder on BVB College campus in Hubballi, Karnataka govt Monday decided to hand over the probe to CID and set up a special court to fast-track the trial.
Neha (24), daughter of Hubballi-Dharwad Congress corporator Niranjan Hiremath, was stabbed to death on Thursday by Fayaz Kondunaik, her former classmate, who was arrested. The postmortem report had revealed Neha was stabbed “14 times in 30 seconds”, police said Monday. She was stabbed in the neck multiple times, causing severe bleeding resulting in her death, police sources said, quoting the report.
Hiremath alleged police commissioner Renuka Sukumar had allowed other accused to roam freely, and demanded her suspension . “I have given to police the names of eight people who were involved in the planning of my daughter’s murder. None of them have been arrested. I have lost confidence in this govt and police. The police commissioner just shows lip sympathy.”
