RAIPUR: At least seven Maoists including two women were killed in an encounter with security forces in forests bordering Narayanpur and Kanker districts in Bastar region of Chhattisgarh on Tuesday morning.
According to a senior police officer, the number of Maoists killed might rise as the encounter still goes on.
A police statement said that an encounter took place in the forest of Tekmeta and Kakur on the borders of Maharashtra when a joint team of Special Task Force (STF) and District Reserve Guards (DRG) was out on anti-Maoist operation at separate locations in the region.
Police said that seven bodies of Maoists were recovered from the spot with seizure of weapons including AK 47, ammunition and explosives.
