Lalu Prasad Yadav bats for Muslim quota, accuses BJP of trying to ‘finish’ Constitution | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav on Tuesday accused the central government of attempting to undermine the Constitution and democracy.
While speaking to the reported, the RJD supremo expressed his support for reservation for Muslims, stating, “Reservation toh milna chahiye Musalmano ko, pura (Muslims must get reservation).”
Lalu Prasad Yadav further claimed that the votes are in favor of his party, and the BJP is fearful and trying to provoke people by suggesting the return of ‘Jungle Raj’.
“The votes are on our side. They are saying that there will be ‘Jungle Raj’ because they are scared, they are trying to instigate. They want to finish the Constitution and democracy,” he said.
During his election rallies, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consistently criticized the Congress party and accused the party of engaging in “vote-bank politics”. He has alleged that Congress would not hesitate to take away reservation from the SC and ST communities and give it to Muslims. The Prime Minister has firmly stated that he will not allow reservation for Muslims based on religion if it comes at the cost of SC, ST, and OBCs.
Recently, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi declared that if his party forms the government, they will remove the 50% reservation ceiling in government jobs and increase it to a level that adequately meets the needs of tribals, SC/ST, OBC, and the poor.
The Lok Sabha elections are being held across seven phases, from April 19 to June 1. The counting is scheduled for June 4.
