Talking about all the praises that have been coming her way, Shruti said, “I am still trying to absorb it. I am grateful for all the love and admiration that I have been receiving right now. Somewhere, when I was shooting for the show, I was hoping that Saima gets a lot of love but it has been getting a lot more love and recognition than how much I had thought. And I am grateful for that.”

On being a part of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s world and how she landed the role of Saima, the actress revealed, “It’s the best part of my life. I was working on my show Namak Issk Ka and it was about to end and I got a call from Shruti Mahajan’s (casting director) team saying there’s an audition. I was told I am required to sing and act in that audition. I had no idea what that audition was for. I gave it like any normal audition. When I got shortlisted, then I was told it is for an SLB project. You won’t believe, in my TV show, my bahu look was inspired from SLB’s film Devdas’ Paro. The first day when I got ready in that look, I saw myself on mirror and thought, ‘kash Sanjay Sir dekh lete toh mujhe heroine bana lete’ and you won’t believe it happened in a few months. I was jumping in joy and when I cleared and made it to the project, I went through the first reading, met him and I am still trying to digest the fact that it all has happened.”

Shruti’s Saima stood by Sharmin Segal’s Alamzeb in Heeramandi like a rock. She illuminated the screen with her dynamic performance. Her journey from television to the silver screen showcases her versatility and dedication to her craft.
