A 20-year-old with family roots in Hyderabad, has pleaded guilty to ramming a rented truck into White House security barriers and damaging property in Washington, DC, in May last year with the intent to replace the democratically elected govt with a dictatorship based on Nazi ideology. Sai Varshith Kandula, a permanent US resident, caused more than $4,300 in damage to National Park Service property and $50,000 in damage to U-Haul International.He faces 10 years in prison when he is sentenced on Aug 23. During the hearing on May 13, Varshith’s lawyer cited mental health issues. Varshith told the court that he was not a US citizen and was born in India.
