Agra: A 23-year-old man in Uttar Pradesh‘s Mathura district killed his 55-year-old father as he allegedly opposed his same-sex relationship. Police have arrested four individuals, two of whom, including the accused son, sustained bullet injuries during an encounter on Monday.
Investigations revealed that the son conspired with three accomplices, including his partner, to kill Mohanlal Sharma, a taxi driver and a resident of Antapada under the jurisdiction of Kotwali police station in the city. His body, bearing signs of violence inflicted by a spade, was found partially burnt inside a metal container in an isolated area near Ayra village, under the jurisdiction of Raya police station on May 4, around 5km from his home.
SP (rural) Trigun Bisen said, “The victim’s unmarried son, Ajit, had a same-sex relationship with Krishna Verma (20), a co-accused. The duo, along with their two friends Lokesh (21) and Deepak (22), planned and executed the crime.” The trio was part of a dance group and was introduced to Ajit through Krishna. During interrogation, it was revealed that Krishna considered Ajit his husband and was unwilling to leave him, police said.
“Ajit used to have regular fights with his father over his relationship. On May 1, Mohanlal slapped Krishna and Ajit, which led to the fatal retaliation on the night of May 2. They hid the body under a bed before placing it in a box and setting it on fire on the night of May 3. The four were sent to jail on Monday,” the SP further added.
Ajit, Mohanlal’s only son, worked at a garment shop and had completed his intermediate education. His mother, Vimlesh, had died two decades earlier. Ajit had befriended Krishna five years ago, and they developed an attraction towards each other.
Raya SHO Ashok Kumar said, “During interrogation, Ajit admitted that he could not tolerate his father raising his hand on Krishna. After killing his father with a spade, they hid the body under the bed and used incense sticks to mask the smell emanating from the corpse. As neighbours grew suspicious and inquired about Mohanlal’s whereabouts, Ajit lied, saying his father had gone to Lucknow for work.”
