‘Unbecoming of a judge’: HC quashes FIR lodged by CJM | India News – Times of India

PRAYAGRAJ: Quashing an FIR lodged by a chief judicial magistrate at UP‘s Banda against officials of the state electricity dept, Allahabad HC Tuesday said the act was “unbecoming of a judge”, reported.
A bench of justices Rahul Chaturvedi and Mohd Azhar Husain Idrisi noted that the Banda CJM had levelled “wild and tailored” allegations of fraud, cheating, fabrication of documents, and extortion of money against officials “to teach a bitter lesson” to them and to make them “understand the power of a CJM”.It added, “The CJM auctioned his chair and dignity by making false and motivated allegations in the FIR by misusing his powers…. If this is the standard of a judge, then the fate and future of subordinate judiciary is pitch dark and rudderless. He cannot be permitted to enjoy his position as CJM and behave & act as an ordinary litigant.”
The case refers to the purchase of a house by the CJM.
