Delhi excise policy case: Rouse Avenue Court extends Manish Sisodia’s judicial custody till July 6 | India News – Times of India



NEW DELHI: The Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court on Thursday extended the judicial custody of Manish Sisodia, former deputy chief minister and AAP leader till July 6 in connection with the CBI case related to the Excise Policy.
The court extended the remand of Sisodia and other accused in the case filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation related to Delhi liquor policy.Sisodia, a prominent Aam Aadmi Party, is also in custody for a money laundering case connected to the alleged scam.
According to allegations by both the CBI and the ED, the Delhi excise policy was modified with irregularities, unwarranted favors were granted to license holders, and license fees were reduced or waived without proper approval from the competent authority.
The agencies have also alleged that the beneficiaries of these actions diverted “illegal” gains to the accused officials and falsified their financial records to avoid detection.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested Sisodia on February 26, 2023, for his alleged involvement in the “scam.” Following his arrest, Sisodia stepped down from his position in the Delhi cabinet on February 28 of the previous year.
