HYDERABAD: An 80-year-old man was found dead with a wide hole in the centre of his chest outside his home in Doragaripalle village near Mancherial town on Thursday. The man, B Gangaiah, is suspected to have died of illness and locals who went to the house due to the foul smell saw dogs hovering near the body.
The badly decomposed body of Gangaiah was found lying on the ground outside his house within the compound.Locals said the hole in his chest appeared to have been caused by rodents or dogs.
Gangaiah was last seen on June 2 near a shop where he had gone to buy a packet of curd. Police suspect that he may have died about 3-4 days ago.
He had been living alone for the past 20 days after his son Mallesh, a daily-wager, and his family moved to a rented house in Hamalwadi, some 15 km away from the village, as it was convenient for his work.
Last rites performed, no plaint filed
Gangaiah’s wife had died in 2014 and his four daughters are married and two of them live in the same village.
As the body was highly decomposed, Mallesh and his sisters requested the local authorities for help. The authorities later brought a vehicle and took it to a place outside the village where the last rites were performed. Naspur police station was also informed about the death, but no complaint was lodged.
