Aircraft carrying Malawi vice president Saulos Chilima goes missing – Times of India


NEW DELHI: The vice president of Malawi, Saulos Chilima, along with nine other individuals, was aboard a military aircraft that disappeared on Monday, according to a statement from the president’s office.
The plane’s whereabouts are currently unknown, and a search operation has been initiated.
The aircraft departed from Lilongwe, the nation’s capital, but did not arrive at its intended destination, Mzuzu International Airport, located approximately 370 kilometers (230 miles) north of the capital.The expected landing time was 45 minutes after takeoff.
According to the statement from President Lazarus Chakwera’s office, aviation authorities lost contact with the plane when it ‘went off radar.’
In response to the situation, Chakwera has ordered a search operation and has canceled his planned trip to the Bahamas.
