Feared Amit Malviya could be honey trapped: RSS worker Shantanu Sinha takes a U-turn | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: A day after accusing BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya of seeking sexual favour, RSS worker Shantanu Sinha on Tuesday withdrew his allegations against the BJP leader and claimed that his earlier social media post was not aimed to malign Malviya but was posted as a caution not to get entangled in a honeytrap.
In another social media post, Sinha said, “It is a great chagrin to me that the nastiest and most corrupt political party of the country, the Indian National Congress, being armed with a post in Bengali posted from my Facebook account, is spreading hate campaign against Mr.Amit Malaviya and the Bharatiya Janata Party.”
“No corner in the post there is any whisper about sexual exploitation of women by Mr.Amit Malaviya. Rather I have there expressed my fear that Mr. Malviya will be drawn to honey trap by the unscrupulous leaders of the party to remain clung to their post despite such debacle in the recently held election. We have bitter experience of such honey trap during the tenure of Mr. Kailash Vijoyborgiya, Mr. Siddhartha Nath Sing, Mr. Pradip Joshi and Mr. Shibprasad,” he said.
“But to my extreme astonishment, none from the State BJP has ever tried to know the purport of the post, but played a dubious role. A legal notice sent from the end of Mr. Malviya by his learned Advocate was circulated amongst the media, purposely, with a view to create pressure upon me on the one hand, and on the other, to divert their responsibility of the debacle in last parliamentary election in West Bengal,” Sinha added.
This comes after Malviya sought an “unconditional apology” from RSS member Santanu Sinha in connection with an “extremely offensive” post on Facebook.
Malviya, through his advocate, sent a legal notice to Santanu Sinha on June 8 asking to take down the “false and derogatory” post and also tender an unconditional apology.
“The nature of allegations are extremely offensive in as much as they falsely allege sexual misconduct purportedly committed by my client. The same is fatally injurious to the dignity and reputation of my client, who, by virtue of his professional profile, is a public figure. Such malevolently malicious statements have been deliberately made to tarnish his reputation,” the notice read.
The Congress, meanwhile, has sought Malviya’s ‘immediate removal’ from the post and has demanded an ‘independent probe’. It further accused PM Modi of providing ‘political patronage to the perpetrators of crime.’
In a press conference, Congress leader Supriya Shrinate said that some RSS members had alleged that Malviya indulged in ‘nefarious activities’ including “sexual exploitation of women not only in 5-star hotels but also in BJP offices in Bengal.”
“It has come to light by members of the RSS who are on record — a gentleman by the name of Shantanu Sinha related to Rahul Sinha, an office bearer of the BJP in Bengal has alleged that Amit Malviya, the head of BJP IT Cell has indulged in nefarious activities, he has indulged in sexual exploitation of women not only in 5-star hotels but also in BJP offices in Bengal,” Shrinate said.
