NEW DELHI: Several individuals were wounded by gunfire on Wednesday in a neighborhood situated in the northern part of Illinois, according to officials.
The Lost Lake community near Dixon saw a significant law enforcement presence, along with ambulances and two medical helicopters, as reported on the Winnebago Boone & Ogle County Fire/Ems Incidents Facebook page.
A representative from Katherine Shaw Bethea Hospital in Dixon confirmed that three individuals were brought to the hospital’s emergency department. Two of them received treatment and were subsequently discharged, while the spokesperson did not disclose the status of the third person.
The department’s website announced that a press conference would be conducted at 3:30 p.m.
Aerial footage captured by local media outlets on Wednesday afternoon showed law enforcement vehicles and personal cars parked along the sides of unpaved roads throughout the neighborhood. Officials were seen gathering in small groups occasionally, but there was minimal ongoing activity. At least one driveway was cordoned off with yellow police tape, and an Ogle County sheriff’s mobile command center was stationed at the end of the drive.
The Lost Lake property owner’s association characterizes the area as a “country style community” with approximately 700 owners, located in an unincorporated region near the cities of Dixon, Franklin Grove, and Oregon, roughly 100 miles (160 kilometers) west of Chicago.
