‘Deploy full spectrum of counter-terror capabilities’: PM Modi reviews security situation in Jammu & Kashmir, talks to key officials | India News – Times of India



NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday chaired a meeting on the security situation in Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) amid back-to-back terror-related incidents in the state. The meeting was attended by National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval and other senior officials, who provided a comprehensive overview of the current security landscape in the region.
Government of India (GoI) sources, as quoted by news agency ANI, said that Prime Minister Modi was briefed on the counter-terrorism efforts underway.He was updated on the strategies and operations being executed to curb terrorist activities and ensure the region’s safety.
During the meeting, PM Modi emphasized the importance of deploying the full spectrum of India’s counter-terror capabilities. He directed officials to utilize all available resources and strategies to combat terrorism, underlining the necessity of a robust and coordinated response to any potential threats.
In addition to this review meeting, PM Modi spoke with home minister Amit Shah to discuss the deployment of security forces and the ongoing counter-terror operations.
He also spoke to Jammu & Kashmir lieutenant governor Manoj Sinha to take stock of the situation and was briefed on the efforts being undertaken by the local administration.
This review follows three significant terror attacks in J&K over the past few days, escalating concerns about the region’s security:

  1. Reasi Terror Attack (June 9): Terrorists targeted a bus in Reasi, causing it to plunge into a gorge. The attack resulted in the deaths of at least nine pilgrims and injuries to 42 others.
  2. Kathua Terror Attack: Details of the attack remain sparse, but it has contributed to the heightened state of alert in the region.
  3. Doda Terror Attack: A constable from the Special Operations Group (SOG) sustained injuries during an encounter with terrorists in the Doda district, according to the Jammu and Kashmir police.
