The Olympics, held every four years, will take place in Paris from July 26 to August 11.
“I conveyed my best wishes to him on the hosting of the Paris Olympics which begins next month,” Modi posted on X after meeting Macron.
This marks Modi’s first foreign trip since being sworn in for his third consecutive term earlier this month.
The last meeting between Modi and Macron was in January when Macron attended India’s 75th Republic Day celebrations as the guest of honour.
So far, nearly one hundred Indian athletes have qualified for the Paris Olympics, with the number expected to increase later this month.
The Indian contingent will notably include 21 shooters, an unprecedented figure for the country.
India had its best Olympic performance in the last edition, which was held in Tokyo in 2021 after a one-year delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The country secured seven medals, including its first-ever track-and-field gold, won by javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra.
Chopra is once again expected to be a top contender for a podium finish in Paris.
