Delhi govt urges Haryana to release water on ‘humanitarian grounds’ amid severe crisis | Delhi News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Amid severe water crisis in national capital, AAP minister Atishi on Saturday said that Delhi govt has asked Haryana to release water on humanitarian grounds.
“Delhi government officers have also talked to Haryana government officers, and on all probability, a delegation of senior officers of Delhi will travel to Chandigarh and meet Haryana officers,” Atishi said, while addressing a press meet.
The AAP MLA also said that in the Upper Yamuna River Board meeting held on Friday, Himachal Pradesh reaffirmed its willingness to provide water to Delhi. The state clarified that it has a surplus of 130 cusec water from its share of the Upper Yamuna water. Chief minister Sukhvinder Sukhu has pledged his full support. As the Upper Yamuna River Board’s assessment of the calculations may take some time, the Delhi government has requested water from Haryana.
She also urged the people of the city to use water consciously and carefully.
