NEW DELHI: Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday hailed the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance’s victory in the Lok Sabha elections as a new beginning. “This Lok Sabha poll victory for Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) is not the end, it is the beginning,” Thackeray said during a press conference, emphasizing the coalition’s strengthened position and future ambitions.
He also said, “This was a fight to save the constitution and democracy. Assembly elections are coming shortly. This government was the Modi government and now it has become the NDA government. Now it is to be seen how long this government will last.”
Leaders of Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) including Thackeray and party leaders Aaditya Thackeray and Sanjay Raut, NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar, and Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan addressed a joint press conference in Mumbai.
Chavan suggested that the election results could precipitate a change in the state government. “After the Lok Sabha poll results, a change of government is imminent in Maharashtra,” Chavan said, indicating a possible shift in power dynamics within the state.
Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar) chief Sharad Pawar also extended his gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “We thank PM Narendra Modi for making the political atmosphere conducive for MVA,” Pawar remarked, attributing the coalition’s success to the prevailing political conditions fostered by the central government.
The MVA, an alliance of the Shiv Sena (UBT), the Congress, and the NCP (SP), has seen its unity and collaborative efforts rewarded with substantial gains in the Lok Sabha elections.
