Bill Gates compliments Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella: …is doing a great job as the CEO – Times of India



Microsoft co-founder and billionaire philanthropist Bill Gates appeared on Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath’s latest podcast series “People by WTF.” Gates talked about a range of things during the podcast, including his relationship with India over the years, Artificial Intelligence (AI), capitalism versus socialism and more.
Gates complimented Microsoft CEO while talking about the role of India in Gates Foundation and Microsoft.Microsoft co-founder said, Talking about Satya Nadella, Bill Gates said, “On the top of that list is Satya, who now is doing a great job as the CEO.”
Talking about his connection with India when he was Microsoft CEO, Gates said, “In my digital first career, the connection with India was fun and made a huge difference in what the company was able to achieve. It was during that time that I was kind of learning, ‘Oh wow, India is such a study in contrast, first class in so many ways, but still a lot of poverty and challenges.”

He said how he hired some very talented people in India and they are doing very well. “I’ve had a fabulous relationship with India starting with the Microsoft experience where we hired some very smart IT graduates, and brought them to Seattle.” Gates went on to add, “Later, they went back and created a development centre for us that’s now in four locations, with 25,000 people. Of course, a lot of the amazing people I work with and have so much fun in the Microsoft success are part of the team who have been hired from India.”
When asked about Gates Foundation’s work in India, Gates said, “Vaccines were missing and that is a crime that these diarrhoea, and rotavirus vaccines were being given to rich kids. So I learnt about the Serum Institute of India, making cheap vaccines. We had to see how we as foreigners form partnerships and not come across in the wrong way. It was a heck of a learning curve.”
When asked about numbers, he said that India is the second largest recipient of funding from the foundation, with nearly a billion dollars invested.
Talking about supplements he said, he makes sure he takes his Vitamins regularly and they per se have no downside.
