The response from BJP’s TN chief comes after INDIA bloc led by the DMK held a massive victory rally in Coimbatore on Saturday in a show of strength. K Annamalai who lost to DMK’s Ganapathy Rajkumar in Coimbatore took to X and said, “In one such celebration yesterday, TN CM MK Stalin claimed “Moral Victory” over the BJP, like every other party in the INDIA bloc.”
“TN CM is currently living in that world through his ‘Moral Victory’. Stalin, a CM who has shown utter disregard for the constitution by making midnight arrests for social media posts while letting criminals loiter the streets, stonewalling programmes implemented by the central Govt, and is in alliance today with a party that put our constitution to the grave threat should be the last person to give lectures on our constitution,” he charged.
The BJP leader also remarked that the INDIA bloc and CM Stalin regarded the constitution as a piece of paper that can be selectively trampled with to suit their needs.
Pointing out to different occasions where the Prime Minister has bowed down to the constitution, he said, “Our Hon PM has shown the highest respect and regard for the constitution since his time as the chief minister of Gujarat, contrary to the claim of CM Stalin that our PM is reminded of the constitution only now”.
Annamalai also trashed Stalin’s claim that the INDIA bloc made Prime Minister Narendra Modi bow down before the Constitution. “It’s my duty to remind the CM of TN about Modi’s life and the respect he has for the Indian constitution, which for the INDIA bloc is nothing but a piece of paper that can be trampled whenever and wherever they are in power.”
The BJP TN chief said Stalin needs to be reminded that the “INDIA bloc is a conglomerate of opportunists, dynasts and corrupt from across the country, who fought an election and still could not cross the number of seats BJP won in this election”.
On the other hand, DMK’s CM Stalin who led the INDIA bloc to a sweeping victory with 39 seats in the state on Saturday referring to Prime Minister’s visit in the run up to the polls claimed that with “just one sweet box, Rahul Gandhi broke the image which Prime Minister Narendra Modi tried to build through his eight trips to Tamil Nadu.”
DMK’s Stalin, who seems to have picked up a cue from Rahul Gandhi’s claim that INDIA bloc ‘s strong pushback had made Prime Minister Modi bow down to the constitution, said, “the last time I came to Coimbatore for the election campaign, it trended across the country. Because the narrative that PM Modi was trying to create through his eight trips to Tamil Nadu, was shattered in one go by a sweet box that my beloved brother Rahul Gandhi gifted me when he came to Coimbatore. I won’t forget the affection brother Rahul has shown me,” MK Stalin said to a huge reception from the crowd.
