Former US President Donald Trump on Saturday proposed that President Joe Biden should undergo a cognitive assessment, but in the following sentence, he confused the name of the person who administered the test to him during his presidency.
In a recent speech to his supporters in Detroit, the former US President challenged Biden to take the same assessment he claims to have taken in 2018 under the supervision of then White House physician Ronny Jackson.
However, Trump immediately stumbled over the name of the former official, who is now a loyal supporter of his in Congress. “Doc Ronny Johnson,” said Trump, who celebrated his 78th birthday on Friday. “Does everyone know Ronny Johnson, congressman from Texas?” he continued. “He said I was the healthiest president, he feels, in history, so I liked him very much.”
Questioning Biden’s mental acuity, Trump told the amused audience that the president had become disoriented while at the G7 summit in Italy, turning “to look at trees” while other world leaders were focused on a parachutist who had just landed during an aerial display.
The incident Trump referred to is based on a video showing Biden “wandering off”, that has been circulating widely in conservative media and Republican circles.
However, the video omitted footage showing Biden turning away from the other G7 leaders to acknowledge a different sky diver who had just landed to his left.
