MUMBAI: A preliminary roadmap has been prepared by the BJP for the upcoming assembly elections in Maharashtra, said deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis in New Delhi on Tuesday after the state core committee held a meeting with Union home minister Amit Shah and BJP national president J P Nadda at the party headquarters.
Newly-appointed observers for Maharashtra Bhupendra Yadav and Ashwini Vaishnav were present, along with national general secretaries Vinod Tawde and B L Santhosh.
Core committee members including Fadnavis, state president Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Mumbai unit president Ashish Shelar, Union minister Piyush Goyal, cabinet ministers Sudhir Mungantiwar, Chandrakant Patil, former Union minister Raosaheb Danve and party’s national secretary Pankaja Munde were at the meeting.
Addressing a press conference after the meeting along with Goyal, Fadnavis said the outcome of the Lok Sabha elections was discussed along with the problems and hurdles faced in various seats.
“The difference (in vote percentage) between the Mahayuti and MVA is only 0.3 per cent. A detailed discussion was held on where we got votes and where we did not, where we faced difficulties, what corrective action needs to be taken. We also held a discussion on the blueprint for the Maharashtra assembly polls. Very soon we shall hold discussions with our NDA partners and we shall prepare a strategy to win the elections. In this, the BJP central leadership is firmly standing behind us,” Fadnavis said.
CM holds meeting on Maratha quota: With agitation threats of two communities – Marathas and OBCs – looming large, CM Eknath Shinde on Tuesday held a meeting on the issue of reservation for the Maratha community. Cabinet minister Shambhuraje Desai, who recently met Manoj Jarange and persuaded him to withdraw his fast, said he updated the CM on Jarange’s demand. Jarange has threatened a hunger strike from July 13 and Desai said efforts are on to find a solution before that.
