NEW DELHI: Several airports across India received bomb threats on Tuesday causing flight delays. Security has also been heightened in view of the threats.
In the morning, a Dubai-bound flight which was to take off from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) received a bomb threat email.

Also, preliminary inquiries revealed that the unknown sender had emailed the same bomb threat to 40 airports across India at around 12.40 pm.

Then, a Chennai-Dubai Emirates flight was delayed by around two hours after a bomb threat email was received at the airport. Passengers had not boarded the plane scheduled to leave at 9.50am.
Meanwhile, an unidentified person sent a bomb threat email to the Coimbatore international airport. A bomb detection and disposal squad (BDDS) team, along with a sniffer dog squad from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), conducted a search of the airport premises and declared the bomb threat a hoax.

Later, Patna airport also received a threat. Airport director said that the investigations were ongoing and further details are awaited.
Through investigation was conducted by security agencies at Jaipur airport as it also reported receiving a threat. However, after the search, police said, “The airport was thoroughly checked, but nothing suspicious has been found so far.”
Security was heightened at Vadodara airport also after airport authorities received a bomb threat in the afternoon.
