WhatsApp rolls out all-new new filter: What users’ ‘Favourite’ filter means – Times of India



Meta-owned instant messaging app, WhatsApp has started rolling out a new feature called Favourites filter on the platform. The new feature is aimed at making it easier for users to find contacts, chats and even calls via this new filtre.

According to the official release notes, the new Favourites filtre will be available alongside the other existing filtres like All, Unread and Groups.The feature will allow users to make some contacts or groups as favourites and quickly access it via the newly added filtre. Also, the favourites will remain the same across chats and calls.
Rollout details
The new Favourites filtre on WhatsApp will start rolling out to all users starting today. However, it will be a phased rollout and may take a while to become available to all users globally.
How to get the feature
Favourites filtre will be rolled out via the update and to get it, simply head to Google Play Store or Apple App Store and find the WhatsApp app. Check if there’s an updated available. If yes, download and install the latest version of the app on your smartphone.
Do note that this does not guarantee that the Favourites filtre will be visible as soon as you update the app, it can still take a while to show up.
How to use the new Favourites filtre

  • Open WhatsApp and on the chat screen, look for the new Favourites filtre at the top.
  • Tap on it to apply the filtre
  • Here, you can tap “Add favourite” and select contacts or groups.
  • On the Calls tab, tap “Add favourite” and select the contacts or group

How to manage Favourites in WhatsApp
Open WhatsApp and head to Settings → Favourite → Add to Favourites. Here you can choose the contacts or groups you want to see in the Favourites filtre. You can also arrange the contacts or group anytime and even remove a contact or group from it.
