Ajit Pawar-led NCP leaders, corporators join Sharad Pawar’s faction in poll-bound Maharashtra | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: In poll bound Maharashtra, several leaders and corporators from the Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in Pimpri Chinchwad have joined Sharad Pawar-led NCP-SCP faction at his residence in Pune on Wednesday.
NCP’s Pimpri-Chinchwad unit chief, Ajit Gavhane, is among the leaders who joined the Sharad Pawar-led NCP-SCP in Pune. Additionally, three senior leaders from NCP’s Pimpri-Chinchwad unit resigned from the party on Tuesday.
Commenting on the defections, NCP-SCP working president Supriya Sule said, “I think everyone has different experiences in the party. We never let our ideology, and the ideology of development diminish. Pawar Sahab has been working continuously for the last 60 years in Maharashtra and at the Centre, for development. We believe in the ideology of Pawar Sahab, but others too look at him with great hopes and are therefore joining him.”
“I and my other colleagues from Bhosari assembly constituency who were holding different positions in the party’s city unit have resigned and we would announce our further course of action on Wednesday,” unit chief Ajit Gavhane had earlier told TOI.
Gavhane had shown interest in contesting the upcoming Maharashtra assembly election from the Bhosari constituency. However, with the current MLA from Bhosari, Mahesh Landge, likely to receive the Mahayuti ticket, Gavhane decided to join the NCP (SCP).
