Blasts trigger fire in cargo ship off Goa coast | India News – Times of India


PANAJI: A Panama-flagged container ship, M V Maersk Frankfurt, was rocked by explosions off the Goa coast on Friday. The ship was on its way to Colombo when a massive fire broke out near its bow.
There were no reports of any casualties at the time of going to press.
An Indian Coast Guard (ICG) official said the fire broke out on the vessel about 102 nautical miles south-west of Goa.”The ship is reported to be carrying international maritime dangerous goods,” the official said, adding that the crew, which was in panic, has been reassured of their safety by an ICG ship which was deployed for rescue operations.
