Microsoft Windows users across the globe were impacted by a faulty update from cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike. It triggered countless devices to crash and display the infamous Blue Screen of Death (BSOD), disrupting operations across industries including airlines, banking and broadcasting.
Later in the day, CrowdStrike identified the issue and rolled back the problematic update.While the immediate crisis has been averted, the full extent of the damage caused by this massive global disruption is under investigation.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella also shared an update, saying that the tech giant is working with CrowdStrike to resolve the issue.
“Yesterday, CrowdStrike released an update that began impacting IT systems globally. We are aware of this issue and are working closely with CrowdStrike and across the industry to provide customers technical guidance and support to safely bring their systems back online,” he said.
