NEW DELHI: Two women in Madhya Pradesh‘s Rewa district were half buried when a truck dumped gravel on them while they were protesting against road construction.
The video of the incident doing rounds on social media platforms showed the women sitting behind the dumpster just before being half buried in gravel.
According to the police officials, the incident occurred in Hinota Jorot village under Mangawa police station on Saturday and a case has been registered.
Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Vivek Lal said the women, Mamta Pandey and Asha Pandey, were protesting against the road construction and got partially buried under murrum.
“The police are investigating the matter, and action will be taken based on evidence,” he said.
Meanwhile, MP congress chief Jeetendra Patwari claimed that this incident in Rewa district has once again raised serious questions about the safety of women in the state.
Taking to X, Patwari said, “This incident in Rewa district has once again raised serious questions on the safety of women under the Bharatiya Janata Party’s regime! Anyway, Madhya Pradesh ranks first in atrocities against women!”

“Mohan Yadav ji, these sisters of Rewa’s Mangawan were buried in gravel and an attempt was made to kill them! Can these sisters expect from your government that this incident will be investigated impartially and quickly and they will get justice on priority? Well, your government is repeatedly failing to stop crimes against women!” he added.
