Maggots at Netanyahu’s table? Anti-Israel protesters’ claim with questionable video – Times of India

Amid ongoing anti-Israel protests ahead of Netanyahu’s address today, a pro-Palestine organization claimed to have unleashed maggots at Washington DC’s Watergate hotel where some of the Israeli delegates were staying. A video of the critters spread out across what seemed like a dinner table went viral but it is not yet known whether it was a staged video or protesters actually breached the security of the hotel.Israeli and American flags could be seen in the background.
“Palestine protestors manufactured chaos at the Watergate Hotel last night so that Netanyahu, Israeli Mossad agents, and the Secret Service had no peace as they continue to terrorize our people,” the Palestinian Youth Movement posted on X.

Some community notes on X suggested that it was a hoax as security is tight at the hotel and police have shut down the streets around the hotel.
“Palestine protestors manufactured chaos at the Watergate Hotel last night so that Netanyahu, Israeli Mossad agents, and the Secret Service had no peace as they continue to terrorize our people. Mealworms and maggots (not talking about Netanyahu) were left on their banquet tables, and crickets were released on multiple floors of the hotel. Fire alarms were triggered for over 30 minutes on multiple floors to ensure that there will be no rest before Netanyahu and Congress disgrace themselves in front of the world for failing to achieve any of their military and political objectives. May their dreams be haunted by the death of our people and decay of their society.” the Instagram post of the same video
“There will be no peace, there will be no rest, until the war criminal’s arrest,” it said.
Protest outside US Capitol
Crowds carrying Palestinian flags and signs ranging from left-wing slogans to Bible verses gathered outside the Capitol calling for a ceasefire and the arrest of Netanyahu. Netanyahu will seek the renewed support of Congress for Israel’s military operations in the Palestinian enclave. This week he will also meet both Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, who on Sunday entered the 2024 presidential race after Biden pulled out.
Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump will host Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday at his resort in Palm Beach, Florida,
“Looking forward to welcoming Bibi Netanyahu at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida,” the former U.S. president said in a post on Truth Social, using Netanyahu’s nickname.
The meeting will be their first since the end of Trump’s presidency, during which the two forged close ties, and comes at a time of strains also between Netanyahu and Democratic President Joe Biden over Israel’s war against Hamas militants in Gaza.
