NEW DELHI: The Karnataka Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday intensified its attack over the alleged MUDA scam as its MLAs staged a march from Vidhana Soudha to Raj Bhavan demanding the resignation of chief minister Siddaramaiah.
BJP MLA Mahesh Tenginkai said, “Siddaramaiah is involved in this scam, in MUDA as well as Valmiki issue. So, we demand that Siddaramaiah should resign.Congress government too should be removed.”
“A meeting has been called by our party on 28th July, a decision will be made on 29th July. We will protest outside the assembly too. The protest will continue until Siddaramaiah resigns,” he added. The assembly session, meanwhile, has been adjourned sine die.
This comes a day after the opposition legislatures, including the leader of opposition R Ashok and BJP Karnataka president BY Vijayendra, protested against the government by sleeping inside the Karnataka Assembly.
They also alleged a political motive behind the formation of the inquiry commission to probe the alleged irregularities, and said it was aimed at denying the House an opportunity to debate the issue.
Meanwhile, deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar said that the government would soon release a list of MUDA sites illegally allotted by the previous BJP government.
“The media had reported that MUDA sites in question were allotted by the BJP two years ago. The BJP could have admitted it during the discussion in the session. They are scared that their misdeeds will come out,” he said.
“We allowed detailed discussions on the Valmiki Development Corporation scam and the BJP leaders raised many issues. But the same BJP did not allow Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah to respond fearing being exposed. But the CM exposed BJP’s scams in writing. The government has ordered an inquiry into all those scams,” he added.
Earlier, a complaint was filed by social activist Snehamayi Krishna against Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah and nine others for allegedly forging documents to claim compensation from the Mysuru Urban Development Authority.
The complaint alleges wrongdoing by Siddaramaiah, his wife Parvathy, his brother-in-law Malikarjuna Swamy Devaraj, who claimed to be a landowner, and his family. It was further alleged that MUDA created fake documents and obtained plots worth crores of rupees. Snehamayi Krishna has raised several questions in his complaint.
