‘Will not seek any post’: Prashant Kishor to work from behind the scenes in political party | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Political strategist Prashant Kishor clarified on Monday that he will not be seeking any post within the party once his Jan Suraaj campaign transforms into a full-fledged political party on October 2.
A day after informing about the upcoming transition, Kishor said in a post on X, “After more than two years of padayatra through thousands of villages and small towns of Bihar, we formally started the process of party formation to give a better alternative that would end decades of misery and ensure a better future for the children of Bihar.”
Outlining the process leading up to the official party launch, Kishor said that over the next two months, approximately 1.5 lakh Jan Suraaj office bearers and lakhs of participating ‘Sansthapak Sadasyas’ (founding members) will engage in deliberations to determine the party’s key priorities, draft and finalize the party constitution, and elect the party’s leader(s).
“As promised, I will not be seeking any post in the party and will continue with my grassroots outreach for the next many months… And it all began with the prayer chosen by the people here in an online survey!” Kishor said in the post, pointing out that he is committed to the grassroots movement rather than seeking a leadership position within the newly formed party.

Prashant Kishor, a former election strategist who has ventured into politics, will be launching a new political party on October 2, which marks the 155th birth anniversary of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. The party will emerge from Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Abhiyan, which has been primarily active in the state of Bihar.
In preparation for the party’s formation, Kishor has scheduled eight state-level meetings with over 1.5 lakh officials associated with the campaign. These meetings will serve as a platform to discuss and decide on various aspects of the party, including its leadership structure, constitution, and key priorities. The details were shared by Prashant Kishor’s organisation in a press brief.
Prashant Kishor expressed confidence in the potential growth of Jan Suraaj, stating that he expects around one crore people to join the movement once it transforms into a full-fledged political party.
