The Tesla CEO shared a few posts on X where users raised concerns about ending up on news related to US presidential candidate Kamala Harris when searched for Donald Trump.
“I did a Google News search about ‘Donald Trump’. Google News changed it to ‘Harris, Donald Trump’ and proceeded to show me only news that favors Harris over Donald Trump,” a user said on X sharing a screenshot of the search results.
‘News about Elon Musk’ now when searched Donald Trump
After the news organisations picked up the news, the search results changed “news about” results to Elon Musk.
‘Wow, this is crazy!’
Calling it “crazy”, Musk hinted that the search engine might be censoring the news related to Donald Trump in the run up to US presidential elections scheduled to be held in November.
Musk shared another post by a user who claimed that Google was showing only “positive” prompts for “why censorship is” searches.
Sharing a screenshot, the user said, “When you type ‘why censorship is’ into Google search, the majority of suggestions are pro-censorship.”
‘Google controlled by Democrats’
The Starlink CEO on Monday shared a few posts by users saying that Google was not showing results on Donald Trump’s assassination bid that left his right ear injured.
Reacting to a user’s post that said, “Google was controlled was by Democrats,” Musk said, “They’re getting themselves into a lot of trouble if they interfere with the election.”
Google, however, responded to the claim saying that no “manual actions” were used to alter search predictions.
The search engine’s spokesperson told Fox News that it is designed to “help people save time” while letting users search for anything they want.
