The video of this unusual feat quickly went viral, reminding cricket fans of a similar incident from 1992.
Thirty two years ago, in a match between India and Australia at the Adelaide Oval, India’s No.10 and No.11 batters, Venkatapathy Raju and Javagal Srinath, also achieved an all-run five, a moment that has now resurfaced and captivated audiences once again.
In the recent Ireland vs Zimbabwe match, Ireland was chasing a target of 158 and found themselves in a dire situation at 21/5 inside six overs. Tucker (56) and McBrine (55*) combined to lift Ireland to victory.
The rare all-run five occurred in the 18th over when McBrine punched a delivery from Zimbabwe’s left-arm seamer Richard Ngarava through the covers. Zimbabwe fielder Tendai Chatara chased the ball and managed to stop it just inside the ropes.
