Bihar in shock as nursery student brings handgun to school, shoots classmate | Patna News – Times of India


NEW DELHI: A five-year-old nursery student brought a handgun to school and opened fire on a classmate, injuring a Class 3 student.
The incident took place on Wednesday, with the ten-year-old victim sustaining an injury to his arm.
According to Superintendent of Police Shaishav Yadav, “The student fired at a 10-year-old boy, who studies in the same school in Class 3.The bullet hit his arm.”
The injured boy was immediately taken to a hospital for treatment. Authorities are investigating how the nursery student got hold of the firearm and managed to bring it to the private school in the Lalpatti area.
“We are trying to find out how the boy got to lay his hands on the firearm and managed to carry it to the private school, which is situated in Lalpatti area,” said Yadav.
Yadav also mentioned efforts to prevent such incidents in the future. “We are also asking schools across the district to ensure that bags of students are checked thoroughly on a regular basis. The incident has caused much anxiety among parents and guardians.”
