NEW DELHI: Union minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Friday took a swipe at Rahul Gandhi and made an interesting counter to his Chakravyuha attack and Mahabharata references during his speech on Union Budget in Lok Sabha.
“Shakuni, Chausar, Chakravyuha … all the references of Mahabharata made by Congress are linked to ‘Adharm’,” the Union agriculture minister said.
Shivraj Singh Chouhan then went on to take a dig at Rahul Gandhi without taking his name and said: “Jaki rahi bhavna jaisi, prabhu murat dekhi tin taisi” which means “In which ever way we choose to perceive the God, in that very form the God appears to us.”
“Shakuni was a symbol of deceit, betrayal and fraud. Why does Congress always think of all these symbols of deceit in Mahabharata,” he said and added “When we remember Mahabharata we think about Lord Krishna.”
“Whenever we think of Mahabharata, we remember Kanhaiya,” he said and added Lord Krishna had said: “Whenever religion is harmed and forces of evil reign supreme, I will come again and again to protect religion.”
Chouhan’s jibes at Rahul Gandhi comes days after the Congress leader unleashed an attack on the government in Lok Sabha, alleging it had trapped Indians in a modern-day “chakravyuh”.
Participating in the debate on Union Budget in Lok Sabha, Rahul had claimed that an atmosphere of fear prevails in the country with a group of six trapping the entire country in a ‘chakravyuh’.
“In 21st century, India is trapped in a new chakravyuha represented by lotus symbol that PM Modi wears on his chest,” Rahul had said in Lok Sabha.
“The ‘chakravyuha’ that has captured India has three forces behind it. 1) The idea of monopoly capital – that 2 people should be allowed to own the entire Indian wealth. So, one element of the chakravyuha is coming from the concentration of financial power. 2) The institutions, the agencies, CBI, ED, IT of this nation, and 3) Political executive. These three together, are at the heart of chakravyuha and they have devastated this country,” Rahul had said.
